About Dr. Swetal
Dr. Swetal Chouhan is an MBBS in DNB Internal, Medicine with a Fellowship in Rheumatology. Based out of India’s capital city of Delhi, she has received EULAR certification from Fellow John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She completed her fellowship in Rheumatology (2 years) in Max Institute of Medical Sciences along with 3-year residency program in Internal Medicine. Additionally, she has pursued a 2-year EULAR Online rheumatology course and cleared it with élan. She holds a proud membership in Indian Rheumatology Association and in Rheumatology dermatology society.
Research has been one of the key areas she has excelled in, having presented a number of papers before large gatherings of scholars and academicians. She has done a full-fledged thesis on Comparison between RAPID 3 and CDAI using urban Indian population as her geographical compass for research.
The thesis was presented as a poster in APLAR 2019, for which she bagged plenty of plaudits. Her thesis topic during DNB in Internal Medicine revolved around HYPOTHYRODISM, which sharpened her medical acumen and gave her an opportunity to study the disorder in meticulous detail.
Her knowledge about medical science in general and about rheumatology in specific has been further augmented due to her colossal appetite for reading articles and journals, and also due to her regular participation in conferences around the world. She has attended a healthy number of conferences including APLAR 2017 and 2019, IRACON 2017 and 2018, BSR Case Report Conference 2018, Monsoon Rheumatology Summit July 2018, MYOIN Conference 2019 Lucknow among others.
Her work experience too is a reflection of her versatility and adeptness. Her work has taken her to different pockets and institutions of the country over the years. She has served as a medical officer in a primary health center at Mandgaon and as a house officer in a central Railway hospital. From Faridabad’s Fortis Hospital to Janakpuri super speciality hospital’s Neurology department to working as a clinical fellow in Baltimore, USA’s John Hopkins hospital, her medical diary is truly expansive and one of diligence and dedication.
When it comes to paper presentation, Dr. Chouhan has left no stone unturned in expanding the horizon of her knowledge through intensive research. In her several papers, she has explored in details topics like Paget’s disease with Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Ataxia in children, Meliodiosis with septic oligoarthritis and pulmonary hypertension amongst others. Her research article on Ultrasound findings in knee of patients of osteoarthritis was accepted by the prestigious International Journal of Research in Orthopaedics and throws light on a lot of, hitherto, semi-dark areas.
Accolades have flown in from all quarters. Always a rank holder (she stood third in her final year in MBBS), she was the recipient of Best Oral Presenter in category of Vasculitis in a case-based conference in Hyderabad in 2019. She has been the trophy holder of a handful of medical quiz events like the Academy of Medical Sciences QUIZ held in 2005.
